Q: My child cannot get liquid out of the Flip Top straw?

Occasionally the insides of the silicone straw or the valve can stick together before the product is used for the first time. This is because the silicone material is sensitive and when not used it can stick. This is perfectly natural. We advise you to clean the product before first use and this will open up the straw allowing liquid to flow freely.

Follow the instructions in your Tip It Up leaflet. When you disassemble the Flip Top beaker for cleaning, ensure that you flush water through the entire straw as this will mean that the straw is fully opened internally and not sticking anywhere. You can also roll the straw between your fingers and squeeze the drinking end with your thumb and forefinger on either side. If you look down the straw whilst doing this you will see the valve opening.

If, after you have cleaned and reassembled the TIU Flip top, your child is still having difficulty getting liquid it may be due to learning how to use the Lip Touch technology. To use they need to apply a small amount of pressure to the front and back of the spout. This opens up the spout and allows the liquid to flow through into baby’s mouth easily.
