Toy Safety

Check that toys meet British safety standards.

Always supervise your child while she is playing, and follow the instructions provided with the toys.

Toys are usually marked with a suitable age range. Make sure that you choose one that is suitable for your baby's age and ability. Take care if your child wants to play with an older sibling's toys.

Check toys for wear and tear over time, and throw them away if they become damaged. Always check second hand toys very carefully.

Avoid toys with a cord or string longer than 30 cms (12 inches), as this could be a strangulation hazard.

Make sure there are no small parts that could choke a child.
